It appears that this may be a 'chick' sail!!
On Aug. 2, Laurie, from New Hampshire flew in to Rockport. She's a 41 year old lady who has sailed with her family. Laurie and I have been talking back and forth on ICQ since last December. When it appeared that I would be sailing OOPS!, she and I explored the idea of her sailing with me. She finally decided to come out and see the boat and begin to make plans for us to sail away!
She and I really 'hit it off', She came back in October, and we planned to sail off for our grand adventure.

Well, Laurie didn't have anything invested in this cruise - and when things didn't go the way she thought they should - plus the holidays creating an illness known as "homesickness" - she bailed out on me.
I'm left sitting alone in Galveston, Texas. Alone - with my dog and cat! What a blessing those two are - they surely did save my life when things got really bad!!
Since it is no easy job to find someone who has no "real life" and has the wherewithall to go off sailing the south seas - I'll just sit here in Galveston for a while. I retrieved my car and computer - so I no longer feel cut off from the rest of the world!
I'm living on the boat at a marina on the island. It's quite "cozy" - to say the least!! I have the puter set up in the V-berth. To keep my mind active, I'll go out looking for a job and just hunker in for a while. I figure it would take a couple of months to find out if one could live on this boat with another person, then a month or so to sail around and then HURRICANE season sets in!! I learned my lesson in Corpus last summer with those hurricanes. I learned that I surely don't want to be out in a little boat when nature hurls her fury on the Gulf and Caribbean!! So I'm looking again for a sailing partner! THIS TIME - some investment will be required so it won't be so easy to run off and leave me stranded!! And any new member MUST BE a team player!! The TEAM comes first - and THEN the individual players!
