maggie

O.K. - here goes!!

FIRST - the name "Maggie" is a 'handle' that was purloined by me from my great grandmother!!  She was a nice, but merely mad lady.  I never knew her -  but the family story told is that she used to smoke a corncob pipe! (She lived in the backwoods hills of Kentucky.) But since it wasn't really accepted by 'polite society', she used to hide the pipe in her apron pocket whenever anybody came around.  The story goes that she was often seen surrounded in smoke when the apron happened to catch  fire!

Great Gramma Maggie - this new life of mine is dedicated to you!!! I have to admit, it's gotten a lot more exciting since I took your name!!!

The boring statistics:

Born: May 18, 1939 in Albion, Michigan, the eldest of three children.  My father was a German immigrant; my mother, the progeny of Irish/English hillbillies.  Ever hear of the Ledbetters?

I am 5' 6 1/2" tall, and weigh about 150 pounds...depending on the phase of the moon, the time of year and the level of activity.

I graduated from Albion high school and attended Albion College.

My personality is a typical Taurus-type: bullheaded, stubborn, dependable and all that "bullish" stuff!

My Sagittarius rising gives me a spirit of adventure!  I don't know what all that means, but I have to blame my seemingly foolhardiness on something!!

I lived the traditional life for 57 years!  I married, had a family, worked steadily all those years.  I volunteered at the school, took in foster children, was a 4-H leader, started my own business.  Most of my working life, I was a Bank Officer and Mortgage Loan officer.  I also sold real estate, foreclosed on farmers, sold and built new homes .  I took care of my mother, my daughter and her daughter for many years.

In the Spring of 1997 - I gave notice to my family that they were to find their own lives and places to live, because I was leaving to go out to find a life.
